Significant changes for Family and Carer Visas

The successful passage of a Greens’ disallowance motion has overturned the government’s attempt to scrap a range of family reunion and carer visas.

The passing of this disallowance motion means that thousands of Australian families will again have the opportunity to reunite with their families around the world under the Aged Parent Visa, Aged Dependent Relative Visa, Remaining Relative Visa and the Carer Visa, all of which have been unavailable since 1st July 2014.

Potential applicants must act quickly to lodge their applications as no one knows what the government’s next step will be.
